AUSTIN, TXAlan Stalcup, CEO of GVA Real Estate Group, and Dominic Rosato continue to champion WayForward, a faith-based nonprofit initiative that is transforming how on-site social support services are delivered to residents across multifamily communities.

Beginning as a wraparound nonprofit for GVA, WayForward was created to bring lasting change to the everyday lives of apartment residents through resident-focused support, essential services, and community-rooted impact.

WayForward’s faith-based mission is simple yet powerful: to provide residents with direct access to social services—including food and clothing pantries, financial literacy programs, ESL classes, and refugee support—when they need it most, and directly within their community.

“WayForward exists to ensure residents are supported, connected, and cared for,” said Alan Stalcup, co-founder of WayForward. “We’ve built this program around the idea that when residents thrive, communities thrive.”

At the heart of the program are Resident Support Teams (RSTs)—carefully selected, well-referenced individuals who live on-site and act as trusted liaisons between residents and local resources. From hosting events to assisting during times of need, RSTs play a vital role in building stronger, healthier communities.

In addition to delivering immediate support, WayForward enriches the lives of residents through asset-based community development—empowering neighborhoods by recognizing and building upon the existing strengths and capabilities of the people who live there. The organization actively cultivates strategic partnerships with local and regional organizations, leveraging their expertise and networks to amplify the impact across communities.

WayForward is also preparing for future growth. Now operating independently, the organization plans to partner with other developers of affordable housing to embed its support model into new developments from day one—ensuring long-term access to essential services for underserved residents across the country.

WayForward continues to evolve and expand its reach—empowering residents, supporting property teams, and redefining what community support looks like in modern multifamily housing.
